"But sometimes loving isn’t about making something work, but rather realizing it isn’t meant to"

Love is often portrayed as a force that can conquer all, but sometimes, the hardest and most necessary form of love is the one that lets go. In life, we may encounter relationships that, despite intense feelings and genuine affection, just aren’t meant to last. We may find ourselves holding on to these connections even when they cause us pain, convinced that because it’s "love," we should keep trying. But in doing so, we may ignore a crucial truth: sometimes love means recognizing that two people, no matter how strong their feelings, aren’t right for each other.
Holding on to a love that hurts us can be an attempt to find meaning or purpose in the suffering. We often believe that because love is involved, the pain has a noble or necessary purpose. Yet, enduring pain without growth, healing, or happiness can be a sign that the relationship isn’t healthy. There’s a difference between love that challenges us to become better and love that continually drains us. Learning to let go of a love that no longer serves us is a difficult but profound act of self-love and respect.
Realizing a relationship isn’t meant to be is not a failure; rather, it’s a sign of wisdom and maturity. It allows both individuals the freedom to find paths that truly fulfill them. In acknowledging that love is not always meant to last, we come to understand that sometimes, love’s greatest gift is the courage to walk away.
