"When the partys over" by PQHAÜS
(Acrylic on canvas / 30x40 inches / 2023
When your chest feels like an echoing void, even after all the things that usually light up your day, you start to understand that you're in deeper trouble than you thought.
This painting captures the hollow ache that settles in after the party fades to silence. You find yourself sitting alone, lost in a haze, as laughter and conversation drift away like whispers in the wind. Watching friends walk out the door, each departure feels like the final curtain closing on a scene you wished could last forever. The night stretches ahead, an endless expanse of solitude that makes you question everything. In that silence, your chair feels like it’s crumbling beneath you, but you’re too consumed by racing thoughts to care.
I created this piece from a place of vulnerability. I used to dread hosting gatherings—not because I was afraid of the company, but because of the crushing absence that followed. Each goodbye left me grappling with waves of loneliness that seemed to deepen the void inside. With every gathering, that ache grew heavier. Over time, I came to realize that I couldn't lean on others to fill my emptiness. The journey led me to understand that it was my own heart I needed to nurture first, to learn how to embrace my solitude before reaching out for connection.
