"My therapist killed himself and now I don't know what to do" by PQHAÜS
(Acrylic on canvas / 16x20 inches / 2023)
Harsh reality that a patient must confront when their primary source of emotional support (their therapist) passes away. The idea of being left alone in the vast world, without knowing how to stabilize oneself, coupled with the realization that the person whom you once perceived as strong met an end contrary to the advice you were given, prompts you to ponder if this might be the sign for you to end it all as well.
On the other side of the painting, around the orange chair, I underscored how individuals working in the mental health field, such as therapists and psychiatrists, are often compelled to project positivity due to the inherent characteristics of their profession and societal norms. There is a common misconception that they are less vulnerable due to their role in helping others, when, in reality, they too may be the ones in need of assistance more than anyone else.
In the end, as the day draws to a close, this painting serves as a reminder that we are all simply human beings, struggling to make the most of our time on Earth while our borrowed time here slips away. It signifies that we all possess a unique blend of strength and vulnerability uniting us in the shared human experience.
